This route starts and ends at Parking Lot 2 of the Green Mountain Audubon Center in Huntington. There are lots of trails in the woods and fields here in addition to their visitor center and numerous ponds, so it’s worth a visit by the whole family.
You’ll head out first to make a small loop around Huntington on Mayo Road, passing by a large Christmas tree farm and some great views.
Then you’ll head on up Texas Hill Road, which is a long, fairly steady gravel climb with lots of shade, before a fast descent to Richmond Road.
After looping around past Champlain Valley Union High School, you’ll climb up Magee Hill Road and turn on to Sherman Hollow, which plays host to the Sleepy Hollow Ski & Bike Center and the Birds of Vermont Museum.
Watch for spectacular views of Camel’s Hump as you ride back down past the Audubon Center visitor center to Parking Lot 2.
